The enzyme superoxide dismutase (SOD) has been added to this formula for several reasons. It is an enzyme that scavenges oxygen radicals in living cells. Oxygen radicals are highly reactive oxygen molecules that are formed as a by-product of, among other things, oxidative phosphorylation and other cellular metabolic processes. Dismutase has the task of neutralising these harmful particles (antioxidant function). Sources rich in natural SOD include melons, wheat, corn and soybeans. The problem is that they are not easily absorbed by the body. In 1998, European scientists developed an SOD form (from melon).
